Riley Green, Mark Chesnutt And Country Stars Rally Behind Sammy Kershaw After CMA Red Carpet Dispute

A growing number of country music stars are speaking out in support of Sammy Kershaw after the singer revealed that his request to attend the red carpet at the upcoming CMA Awards had reportedly been turned down.

The situation has sparked plenty of discussion among country music fans and fellow performers, with several well-known artists expressing disappointment over how the country legend says he was treated.

Kershaw shared his frustration on social media on November 5, explaining that he had received disappointing news from the Country Music Association. According to the singer, his request to make a brief appearance on the red carpet at this year’s ceremony was denied.

The situation was particularly upsetting because Kershaw said he had already been making arrangements around his touring schedule and travel plans in hopes of attending the event.

The singer also pointed out that he has been a lifetime member of the CMA since 1992 and believes artists who helped build country music deserve recognition and respect.

Riley Green Doesn’t Hold Back In His Support For Sammy Kershaw

Among the artists reacting to Kershaw’s announcement was Riley Green, who made his position clear with a strong message of support.

“If you haven’t earned the right to be there then nobody has… disappointing to say the least,” Green commented.

His response quickly added to the conversation, with fans recognizing the importance of honoring the artists who helped shape the genre.

Drew Baldridge also weighed in, expressing disbelief over the situation and even offering to give Kershaw his own place on the red carpet.

“This is wild! I’ll give you my spot!! You paved the way for all of us on that carpet,” Baldridge wrote.

Carly Pearce shared a heartfelt message as well, reminding everyone how much today’s country music community owes to the artists who came before them.

“Many of us wouldn’t be here without artists like you,” she commented.

Jake Owen kept his response short and simple, writing, “I’m team Sammy.”

Kylie Morgan also expressed her frustration, suggesting that the industry should focus more on celebrating legendary country performers rather than giving so much attention to social media personalities.

Mark Chesnutt And Doug Stone Question The CMA’s Treatment Of Country Legends

The discussion also brought strong reactions from two familiar names in ’90s country music: Mark Chesnutt and Doug Stone.

Chesnutt shared a lengthy response on Facebook, questioning whether the CMA still gives enough recognition to the artists who helped establish the organization and bring country music to a wider audience.

“The CMA doesn’t care about us old 90s guys any more,” Chesnutt wrote.

He went on to criticize what he sees as a growing preference for pop performers, Hollywood celebrities, and hip-hop artists at major country music events, rather than giving veteran country stars the recognition they deserve.

Chesnutt also compared the situation to rock music, pointing out that the genre has made an effort to celebrate performers from different generations.

Despite his disappointment, he ended his message by expressing gratitude for the fans who continue to support traditional country music.

“Thank God there’s still a lot of people that love traditional country music,” he added.

Doug Stone shared similar concerns, suggesting that the CMA could easily find a way to make room for Kershaw.

He even questioned whether someone else on the guest list could give up their spot so the veteran singer could attend.

“Surely there is someone on that red carpet list who could be bumped to make way for SK,” Stone wrote.

Fans Believe Sammy Kershaw Deserves Recognition

The reactions from Riley Green, Carly Pearce, Jake Owen, Drew Baldridge, Mark Chesnutt, and Doug Stone show just how strongly the situation has resonated throughout the country music community.

For many fans, the issue goes beyond one red carpet invitation. It raises broader questions about how established country artists are recognized and whether the genre continues to give enough credit to the performers who helped build its legacy.

Kershaw enjoyed considerable success throughout the 1990s, becoming one of the recognizable voices of traditional country music with hits that remain popular among longtime fans.

The 60th CMA Awards are scheduled for November 18, making the controversy particularly timely as the ceremony approaches.

As of November 6, the Country Music Association had not publicly responded to Kershaw’s account of the situation.

For now, the conversation continues, with fellow artists and fans making one thing clear: they believe Sammy Kershaw’s contributions to country music should never be overlooked.
