Heartbreaking Loss: 3-Year-Old’s Journey to Birthday Party Ends in Tragedy
|This is an incredibly sad and heart-wrenching story about a 3-year-old boy named Josiah Toleafoa. On what was supposed to be a day of celebration for his third birthday, tragedy struck.
Josiah and his family were at Play City, an indoor venue for children’s parties, when a car tragically hit him. Witnesses described how his mother was in complete anguish, screaming and crying as paramedics tried desperately to save him. Despite their efforts, Josiah passed away at Rady Children’s Hospital.
This devastating event has completely shattered this family’s world. What should have been a day of happiness turned into the worst experience of their lives, leaving them overwhelmed with grief and sorrow.
The driver, a 36-year-old whose identity hasn’t been confirmed, was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities, but the exact reasons for losing control haven’t been determined.

To assist Josiah’s parents with the funeral expenses, the family started a GoFundMe page. Josiah’s aunt, Tatiana Toleafoa, described him as a bright light who brought joy and love wherever he went.
The GoFundMe page explained, “We’re doing this gofundme to help with my sweet nephew’s funeral expenses and services for the little angel that touched so many lives in so many different ways before he was called to Heaven. Any amount would help, anything at all. We are so thankful to have loving family and friends to be with us and love us through this horrible tragedy and want to be able to put him to rest to say goodbye and never forget the little boy who loved with a tremendous heart.”

The owner of Play City generously donated $2,000 to Josiah’s family, and the landlord matched this donation.
As of now, no arrests have been made.
Our hearts go out to this family in their time of unimaginable grief. There is no pain greater than losing a child.
Rest in peace, dear Josiah.
