Father’s Unexpected School Pickup Reveals a Heartwarming Surprise

Being a parent means doing whatever it takes to see our kids happy and at ease. Ben Sowards, a dad and husband from Utah, received a call from his 6-year-old daughter’s school about an accident she had in the bathroom. He knew he had to go get her right away.

Understanding how embarrassed Valerie must have felt, Ben had a clever plan. Before heading to the school, he dampened the front of his pants. He shared in an interview with Huffington Post that he believed the key to making his daughter feel better was to make her laugh.

“I knew she was mortified, but I thought if I could make her laugh everything would be fine.”

This simple gesture was bound to work wonders.

Upon arriving at the principal’s office, Ben discreetly asked Valerie for her backpack. He quietly explained that he needed to hide something. At first, Valerie didn’t quite get why her dad needed to hide anything!

Then she looked down and noticed his pants.

According to Ben, the moment Valerie saw his pants, everything changed. She felt at ease, ready to walk out of the school confidently.

“She was totally exasperated. But, once she saw my pants, I got that look from her where I knew everything was OK. All dads know what look I’m talking about. And we just strolled out of the school like nothing was happening.”

Ben’s act of wetting his pants was an extra step he took as a father to ensure his daughter didn’t have to face unnecessary embarrassment over something so common among kids.

The world could use more dads like Ben!
